Democrats Want The Draft Reinstated

Date June 2, 2006

Once again, Charlie Rangel is trying to get the draft reinstated. He tried this once before and somehow it was spun by the media so as to seem that Republicans were trying to do it. Now, here in June, 5 months from mid-term elections, he’s trying to do it again. Good ‘ol Charlie and his scare tactics. $5 says the media will again blame the Republicans.

You know, you remind me of my 10-year-old nephew with your comments lately.

That’s horrible. If the draft is the only way to win this war (or at least have a better shot at winning it) , I’d rather lose it. I hope the media makes sure every one knows EXACTLY who proposed this bill.

Hey IC, I agree with you!!!

There’s a first time for everything.

Your nephew is urging you to enlist?

  6. Indian Chris said:

No, he’s childish. And this is the last comment I’m making that isn’t actually about this post.

I think we should have mandatory enlistment (not a draft).

And I’m a left wing tree huggin’ hippie. Granola anyone?

This post is about a draft, and I ask you: Would we need a draft if enough people like you enlisted?

  9. Indian Chris said:

I love granola. Except it gets stuck between my teeth and is a bitch to get out.

Anyway, we do have the registration that every male when they turn 18 has to sign up on. Which isn’t fair. Why don’t women have to sign up? What ever happened to “equal rights for the sexes”?

I am not up on this issue. Was Rangels bill about the draft or about national service? Didn’t Reagan favor a 2 year period of national service but never obtained the support? It’s all fuzzy to me now.

Chris, you cannot continue to be in favor of military intervention and NOT receive questions about why you have no plans to meet the enlistment criteria. Don’t be a chest-thumping rightist chickenhawk.

IC, Now you want women to be killed in war too? That’s really nice of you.

You know what? Fuck the draft! And screw the fact that you can’t go to Canada or college to avoid it! Is America going to just become a big prison? It’s freaking rediculous! It’s not our fault we’re in Iraq; it’s our corrupt government’s fault!

What about the people who already have a plan for their life? They have a college and profession planned out. They want to have a family and a peaceful life. Why should they have to go fight a bunch of barbarians because George Bush wants oil? They shouldn’t! Obviously something needs to be done here. If there’s not enough people in the military, then obviouslythe war is not really something the people want. Maybe something should be set up where the people get to vote on whether there should be a war or not. It would be a smaller vote with more restrictions on who can vote though. OH WAIT! I FORGOT! OUR VOTES DON’T COUNT! I saw on the Discovery Channel that a woman (I forget her name) found through experiment and a deep study of the voting machines that they were fixed. And is that so unbelievable? Why does voting have to be so secretive? Why can’t anyone know how the machines work? It should be simple! You push the button and your vote is registered…right? No! Obviously not! This country is so corrupt! It really pisses me off.
