Living with this dang latex allergy #whatever

Date July 24, 2006

The last time I posted about my latex allergy (a while back), I had a civilian working in Iraq contact me. He had not even had it diagnosed yet – but finally figured his triggers:rubber pen grips, mouse pad, stationary bike grips & the Lance Armstrong type bracelet (some are latex-free). Severeral e-mails later – we realized he had worked with my hubby in Iraq (small world – eh?). I am always happy to help someone who suffers from this dilemma like me – a veteran latex allergy gal (7 plus years now).

During vacation, someone gave all the kids latex balloons in a goody bag. As soon as hubby found one on the floor, he picked it up & put it in his pocket (protecting me). Well, I went to do laundry, emptied his pocket & bingo – latex balloon hives all over me.

Know someone with a latex allergy or have one – feel free to contact me! Think about all the latex stuff you touch in the next week – it will blow your mind (get your mind out of the gutter).

Oooh, that sucks. I do not have a latex allergy, but to certain metals as they interact with my oak allergy. I used to have really bad excema on my hands, prescription medicing and all. Things like metal watch bands set me off when they get wet.

Of course, that is nothing compared to my scallops allergy. Just the smell can get me. Touching one can put me in the hospital.

Strangely, shrimp and lobster are ok.

An old fraternity brother had a latex allergy. There were alot of things he couldn’t do.

I have a new scallop & clam allergy too. Bummer – but the red wine allergy sucks the most!

    Scallops are soooooooo tasty!

However, the Epi pen hurts. And it wastes so much time going to the emergency room.
