It’s the free market in action. Estee Lauder knows where the money is, and with 74% of people laughing at Bush, this is good marketing. Plus, on the other hand, you got that uptight, thin-lipped Ann Coulter saying Murtha was the reason fragging was invented.
So it all balances in the end.

I soooo expected that comment from you. You are getting way too predictable BH!

Brainhell- I guess we will see who follows the money in this case – my money is on Estee Lauder stepping in and yanking the ad. You made the classic liberal mistake of underestimating the capitalistic nature of the beast. And as to refresh your memory GWB won by a nice size margin of 3 to 4 million over John Kerry – those voters have money and will not be spending it to keep hate-mongers like Bernhard employed.
If anything you as a tolerant liberal should be denouncing Bernhard’s hate-filled commercial – but then again it’s rare for a liberal to speak out against intolerance when it’s one of their own holding the megaphone and screeching hate.

Diva,
BH is not a liberal. It’s probably more accurate to call him a libertarian, though I’m not sure he would accept that description either. It’s not just about conservative vs. liberal. The world is a lot more complicated than that.

Thanks Silke. Diva, an attempt at capitalist advantage does not mean they will not change their mind. Heck, they get double advantage: pleasing the Bush scorners (74%) AND making self-righteous pro-Bush nut jobs feel they won a victory. I see no value in a wager that they’ll change their mind. It would be smart: In the end Lauder wins because we’re all now more aware of them. Just so you know, in my opinion, Bush lost both the 2000 and 2004 elections. In the first case he was graced by judicial activism, and in the second, by someone manipulating voting databases.

Greta, hopefully my responses will become soooooo predictable that you will internalize my wisdom and realize it don’t matter one whit what Sandra Bernhart says in an ad campaign. It’s all designed to raise consciousness of the brand.

I am actually more a Libertarian (except I don’t believe in the Drugs are Legal and the unchecked open borders) who happens to vote Republican because the Democrats are no longer a true party – they have been over-taken by the Socialist elements of the party – so I do understand that it’s more than names or words but having said that – Brainhell may not be a classic Liberal – but he fits the mold in the way the Left defines a liberal – his comment does lean that way and as for his follow-up comment (database conspiracy?) well I think I will leave it as a lesson to the reader as to what best defines his political thinkings/leanings.
As a business woman I can also tell you, Brainhell, that in the world of business bad publicity is just that – bad. The Estee Lauder company is not a celebrity a la Madonna who’s career was staked on creating controversy – businesses shun bad publicity and I have no doubt that a quickly worded retraction and public scolding of MAC will ensue.

I think it’s more accurate to say “he fits the mold in the way the Right defines a liberal†(i.e. anyone who disagrees with George Bush).
Regarding the ad, I find it odd Estee Lauder would intentionally alienate a segment of potential customers.
