Active Duty Bloggers get the red flag!

This has been brewing for some time now and now it is for real. Blackfive has some more info both here and here. This will be the buzz at the MILBLOG conference this weekend.
My opinion: With the age of our soldiers and the advancement of technology, they are going to blog anyways. I think it is the best interest of all to kabosh it, but that will make them want to do it more. Maybe each unit can designate one blog and monitor it.

I think the Pentagon has shot themselves in the foot with this stupid decision. The Milbloggers were one of the primary ways that truth about what is going on in Iraq got a chance to get out.

When it came down to the truth about what was said, it made sense. Just let your commander know you are blogging and be responsible about 530-1 . “>OP SEC (operational security). It was just putting some oversight into the craze of blogging from soldiers in the war zone. The commander needs to trust that their soldier and can be as lenient and/or strict as they want once they know they are blogging. Makes sense…right??? [...]
