The Marines in Berkley

Date March 11, 2008

Rob Riggle from the Daily Show interviews Code Pink to find out why they want the Marines to leave Berkley…

Here’s my favorite part of the interview:

Code Pink: It’s very important to protect free speech and so we clearly have the right to be here.

Rob Riggle: If only there was an organization that was sworn to defend that free speech.

Code Pink: Wouldn’t that be great!

…

Code Pink: Wars in general would stop if we didn’t have weapons just like violence on our streets would stop if we didn’t have weapons.

Rob Riggle: So if we got rid of police we wouldn’t have crime?

Code Pink: Potentially.

We have many one time Marines on our Poilice Force in Fresno, California. I rode with one last night. They maintain our peace. Thank God they are here.

PS: The meaning of the word “pink:” This phrase meaning to be on the run from something is U.S. criminal slang from the turn of the 20th century. From Appleton’s Popular Science Monthly of April 1897: To do a lam, meaning to run. And from 1904 we have this from Life in Sing Sing by “Number 1500”:… See: http://www.wordorigins.org/

The idiocy of certain factions in our society never ceases to amaze me… even though I have a lot of experience dealing with these types. You can’t reason with them. They don’t operate on logic and common sense, just feelings of happiness and joy – and against anything they might perceive to be a potential buzz-kill.

Ironically, the very institution they protest is responsible for defending their rights to be ignorant, ill-informed, and vocal about their gross misinterpretation of reality.

While that might be true in her drug-induced happy place, it certainly does not ring true with sober eyes.

This entire clip, while very entertaining, is also quite disturbing. It is difficult to believe there are people who actually think this way, and are passionate enough in their stupidity to organize public demonstrations to show it to the rest of us. Sadly, they will inspire other stupid people.

If only code pink and “its” cronies would fall from the trees in Berkley!!!

They certainly are not going to “fall” as a soldier defending the right to protect free speech.

No doubt-code pink are tree huggers too!!

In the late 60′s as a California Highway Patrolman, I spent a week at Berkeley on riot control. I see nothing has changed since then. It’s still like my favorite cereal: Full of fruits, nuts and flakes.

It would be a shame if the islamic extremists were to target Berkley because of it’s lack of military presence.

It looked like they were still getting recruits though. And I have to wonder… If someone we’re on the fence about signing up, the crap coming out of those pinko’s mouths might just be enough to convince a kid that moral integrity and personal courage are only achieved through service and commitment, not wining and complaining. How ironic would that be? Someone joins the Marines because he hates the hippies out front of the office!

    What bunch of clueless idiots!

    Boards! Hippies! Ahhhh!

Having served in the Marine Corps from 58-79, having one son who served in the Corps for ten years ,one who is presently a Captain in the Corps, and one who is a Captain in the Army, and considering we have served in Viet Nam, Somalia, Kuwait, Irag, and Afganistan I can’t help but marvel at the ignorance that still exist in the US. Fortunately, I still believe that it is simply a minority of vocal nuts. Proud to have served and extremely proud of our sons who continue to serve and preserve the rights we all enjoy.

It would be total irony, that if Muslin terrorists target Berkeley, as was NYC, to wake up these clowns. As the saying goes, “Their village called; they are missing their idiot”.
